Mr. John Alukka
Mr. John, born in 1969 in Thrissur—widely regarded as the cultural and entrepreneurial capital of Kerala. Thrissur has long been home to some of India’s most prominent business leaders, including Joy Alukkas, T. S. Kalyanaraman, Jose Alukkas etc. Growing up in this vibrant business ecosystem, Mr. John was naturally inspired by a strong culture of entrepreneurship from an early age.
At just 17 years old, Mr. John, along with his brother Mr. Joshy, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey with a modest capital of ₹15,000. Starting as small-scale traders, they sourced limited quantities of ornaments from local household manufacturers and sold them across Kerala. Their early days were defined by extraordinary dedication—working from 3:00 AM to 11:00 PM and traveling extensively by public transport to build their market presence.
Driven by a keen sense of opportunity, Mr. John soon transitioned from trading to manufacturing. Beginning with small-scale production from his home, operations gradually expanded to a modest workshop and later into a structured manufacturing setup producing lockets, necklaces, and chains. During this time, the Indian market heavily depended on machine-made chains from Mumbai, known for their superior precision and finish.
Determined to bring this level of excellence to Kerala, Mr. John set out to understand the technology behind machine-made chain manufacturing. Despite facing repeated setbacks and discouragement—including restricted access to manufacturing processes and warnings about the significant investment required—he remained resolute. With several struggling, he independently travelled to Dubai to explore this opportunity.
In Dubai, his perseverance paid off when he gained access to advanced chain manufacturing machinery. Witnessing its efficiency firsthand—where a machine could produce many fold, compared to human labour—was a defining moment. Recognizing its transformative potential, he made the bold decision to invest in this technology, despite widespread scepticism from peers and well-wishers.
Upon returning to India, Mr. John introduced this advanced Italian machinery first time in Kerala. He initially operated the machine discreetly from his residence for nearly eight years. His persistence gradually paved the way for wider acceptance and expansion.
Over time, multiple machines were introduced, and in 1999, a dedicated factory facility was established, consolidating all manufacturing operations under one roof. This marked a significant milestone in the company’s evolution into a fully technology-driven enterprise.
Today, under Mr. John’s leadership, the organization has grown into one of South India’s leading manufacturers of machine-made gold chains, known for precision, quality, and innovation. In 2021, his son, Mr. Alvin John, an Engineering Graduate joined in business as an Executive Director.
Mr. John attributes his success to unwavering hard work, a continuous commitment to learning, resilience in the face of challenges, and the courage to take calculated risks. His journey stands as a powerful testament to visionary leadership and entrepreneurial determination.
